When you have a vision, act on it!

“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out otheir dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”

Inspirational Message

" We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, or the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But within all this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we shall live: courageously or in cowardice, honorably or dishonorably, with purpose or adrift. We decide what is important and what is trivial in life. We decide that what makes us significant is either what we do or what we refuse to do. But no matter how indifferent the universe may be to our choices and decisions, these choices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about."

5 Keys To A Successful Relationship

Having a successful relationship takes work from both partners. Great relationships don’t always come easy. If you find the right partner, that’s half the battle. But, no matter how long you’re with that person, you have to continuously work on your relationship and try to find ways you can improve it. The following are 5 keys to a successful relationship.
  1. Communication- I can’t stress the importance of communication enough. If you aren’t able to open up and talk about things, than you don’t have a solid relationship. When people have things on their mind and let them go without discussing it, it usually manifests itself elsewhere.

For example if something your partner said hurt your feelings and you don’t talk about it, you might find yourself getting annoyed at everything they do. You may start nitpicking at them. In reality it’s not those little things bothering you but what they said that hurt your feelings.

Without communication, many of us hold a grudge. Holding a grudge is definitely not productive for a relationship. One important rule about communication is to talk in a respectful manner. Just spewing out whatever is on your mind in any tone of voice is not communication. Talking is great but if you don’t do it with respect, it’s pointless. Also remember to not only talk about things but to be a good listener too.
  2. Honesty- Being honest and not lying is crucial to a good relationship. Even “white lies” are not healthy for a good relationship.

  3. Trust-If you can’t trust your partner, than there’s a problem. You know you’re in a good relationship when you don’t worry about your partner cheating on you. Those thoughts aren’t on your mind at all. You never worry when your partner is working late. If you find that you’re becoming suspicious of your partner, than that’s not a good sign.

  4. Respect- A healthy relationship has a key element of mutual respect for one another. Its okay to disagree but you must respect each others opinions and differences.

  5. Dependability- It is important to have dependability in a relationship. Having a partner that is dependable and reliable will give you a great sense of security within the relationship.  When times are tough and you hit rocky patches in your life it is important to know that somebody will be there for you.

Check out this article about successful black women and marriage.....What do you think about this?

Marriage eludes high-achieving black women....
Michelle Obama may have become an archetypal black female success story - law career, strong marriage, happy children - but the reality is often very different for other highly educated black women.

Acknowledge others frequently.
Tell them what you like and appreciate in them.

Invest money in yourself.
Go to seminars, workshops and courses that develop your talents.

Make a list of 10 things
you love doing and do them frequently.

Treat yourself as you would treat someone you really loved.
Praise yourself.

Believe in yourself and watch how things change for the better...

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren't the way you had hoped they would be,.......that's when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down, but those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself and all that you are capable of. There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them. Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are, So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be, because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you. Keep believing in yourself......

Quote of the day

Hang on to your dreams. Ignore those who try to discourage you. Just do it. Keep trying no matter how hard it seems, it will get easier. Love yourself first and most. Make it happen. Never lie, cheat or steal, always strike a fair deal. Open your eyes and see things as they really are. Practice makes perfect. Quitters never win and winners never quit. Read, study and learn about everything important in your life.

Let go of negative energy!

Avoid negative sources, people, places, things and habits. Believe in yourself. Consider things from every angle. Don't give up and don't give in. Enjoy life today, yesterday is gone, tomorrow may never come. Family and friends are hidden treasures, seek them and enjoy their riches. Give more than you planned to.

Advice of the day

Stop procrastinating. Take control of your own destiny. Understand yourself in order to better understand others. Visualize it. Want it more than anything. ‘Excellerate’ your efforts. You are unique of all God's creations, nothing can replace YOU. Zero in on your target and go for it!

Positive Quote of the Day

"To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition, to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success."

Do you wanna know how to find YOUR passion??

Is there something you already love doing? Do you have a hobby, or something you loved doing as a child, but never considered it as a possibility? Whether it’s reading comic books, collecting something, making something, creating or building, there is probably a way you could do it for a living. Open a comic book shop, or create a comic book site online. If there’s already something you love doing, you’re ahead of the game. Now you just need to research the possibilities of making money from it.
  • What do you spend hours reading about? For myself, when I get passionate about something, I’ll read about it for hours on end. I’ll buy books and magazines. I’ll spend days on the Internet finding out more. There may be a few possibilities here for you … and all of them are possible career paths. Don’t close your mind to these topics. Look into them.

  • Brainstorm. Nothing comes to mind right away? Well, get out a sheet of paper, and start writing down ideas. Anything that comes to mind, write it down. Look around your house, on your computer, on your bookshelf, for inspirations, and just write them down. There are no bad ideas at this stage. Write everything down, and evaluate them later.

  • Ask around, and surf for possibilities. Ask other people for ideas. See what others have discovered as their passions. Look all over the Internet for ideas. The more possibilities you find, the more likely your chances of finding your true passion.

  • Don’t quit your job just yet. If you find your calling, your passion, don’t just turn in your resignation tomorrow. It’s best to stay in your job while you’re researching the possibilities. If you can do your passion as a side job, and build up the income for a few months or a year, that’s even better. It gives you a chance to build up some savings (and if you’re going into business for yourself, you’ll need that cash reserve), while practicing the skills you need. See below for more.

  • Give it a try first. It’s best to actually test your new idea before jumping into it as a career. Do it as a hobby or side job at first, so that you can see if it’s really your true calling. You may be passionate about it for a few days, but where the rubber meets the road is whether you’re passionate about it for at least a few months. If you pass this test, you have probably found it.

  • Do as much research as possible. Know as much about your passion as possible. If this has been a passion for awhile, you may have already been doing this. At any rate, do even more research. Read every website possible on the topic, and buy the best books available. Find other people, either in your area or on the Internet, who do what you want to do for a living, and quiz them about the profession. How much do they make? What training and education did they need? What skills are necessary? How did they get their start? What recommendations do they have. Often you’ll find that people are more than willing to give advice.

  • Practice, and practice, and practice some more. Don’t go into it with amateur skill level. If you want to make money — to be a professional — you need to have professional skills. Get very good at your future career and you will make money at it. Practice for hours on end. If it’s something you love, the practice should be something you want to do.

  • Never quit trying. Can’t find your passion at first? Give up after a few days and you’re sure to fail. Keep trying, for months on end if necessary, and you’ll find it eventually. Thought you found your passion but you got tired of it? No problem! Start over again and find a new passion. There may be more than one passion in your lifetime, so explore all the possibilities. Found your passion but haven’t been successful making a living at it? Don’t give up. Keep trying, and try again, until you succeed. Success doesn’t come easy, so giving up early is a sure way to fail. Keep trying, and you’ll get there.

  • What I’ve outlined here is a lot of work … but it will be the best investment you’ve ever made. Follow your passion, and you will be truly happy and incredibly fulfilled. I wish you the biggest success of your dreams!!!

Makeup How-To: 3 Easy Steps To a Wearable Smoky Eye

Remember your trusty ol' paint by numbers set from childhood? While we may have outgrown the pastime, we borrowed the idea for a little grown-up inspiration in our March 2011 issue. We broke down some hot eye makeup prettiness step-by-step to make each look totally wearable. Ready for your 3-step guide to our favorite, the wearable smoky eye? Prepare to be your own pro, gals.
OK, first, take a gander at the look (we spotted it on the spring 2011 runways at Just Cavalli).
    smoky-eye-how-to-model.jpg
Next, your guide for the steps below:
    02_smoky-eye-how-to-illustration-no.jpg
And now, here's what you need to do in order to steal this look:
    Step A
Coat your bottom inner lash line (section 1) with a black liner pencil. If the tip’s too sharp, dab onto a tissue first, suggests MAC makeup guru Gordon Espinet, who created the look at Just Cavalli. Next, prep lids with a balmlike eye cream for easy blending, and rim the top and bottom lash lines (sections 2 and 3) with the same pencil.
    Step B
Layer a denim-colored pencil over the black in sections 2 and 3. Then blend the two shades up and over the lid (section 4) and along the bottom lash line with a fluffy shadow brush.
    Step C
For more drama, apply a navy cream shadow in the crease (section 5) and blend. Finish with mascara.
Voila! Your final look should come out looking something like this:

How to Get Motivated for Success

In these economic times that we all are facing, we all stand in need to be motivated and be encouraged that if we want to succeed or accomplish something that we can and that the only real person that can stop you or hold you back is you. In this article you will be inspired to push towards your goals and succeed in whatever endeavor you have ahead.

1.When you wake up in the mornings first thank God for another day and another chance and look in the mirror and say to yourself, " Today is a brand new day, with a brand new start and fresh ideas.
2.Remember to quote throughout the day to repeat over and over " Failure is not an option" That if you had a choice or options, failure is not one of them and that you don’t have a choice but to succeed.
3.Whatever you put your mind to you can achieve it. " If you can think it, you can make it, and if you can make it, you can take it, and if you can take it, the only thing left to do is succeed."
    4. So with all this said in mind never ever give up, the things, situations and obstacles you are facing are only a distraction to take you away from your focus. The problem or challenge will only last for a season and soon, very soon you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Think Positive and focus on success!

    Positive Attitude Tip

Giving positive reinforcement to others is one of the best things you can do if you want to see a change in behavior. Finding the good in something is much more effective than focusing on the negative. The same can be true for yourself. When you make a mistake do you beat yourself up or do you learn from the mistake? It is all in how you look at it. Keep your attitude positive no matter what or whom you are dealing with it will make your life much happier and you will accomplish more. Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.
